Death Certificates
Organized and centralized records of individual deaths didn't come into being until the early 1900's. In North Carolina, death records at the county and state level didn't begin until 1913 and were not uniformly adopted until approximately 1920. Statewide registration of deaths in Georgia didn't begin until 1919.
